About Dime & Decor

Jessica Lane, founder and editor of Dime & Decor

Beautiful homes don’t need big budgets.

Dime & Decor was started by Jessica Lane, a renter-turned-homeowner who learned the hard way that style isn’t about how much you spend — it’s about how cleverly you spend it. After furnishing her first apartment almost entirely with thrift-store finds, Dollar Tree hauls, and weekend DIY projects, friends kept asking the same question: “How did you do that for so little?” This blog is the answer.

Here, every project starts with a small budget and ends with a home that looks anything but cheap. From $1 fall decor to full room makeovers under $100, we hunt down the best ideas so you don’t have to.

Meet the writers

Jessica Lane — Founder & Editor. Jessica covers budget guides and living room makeovers. She believes the best rooms are collected, not bought. Every makeover on this site starts in her own living room — tape measure in one hand, thrift-store price tag in the other.

Emma Collins — Kitchen. Emma is our kitchen specialist, hunting down rental-friendly upgrades and small-kitchen makeovers that cost less than a takeout dinner. She tests every upgrade in a real 90-square-foot kitchen and shows the mess honestly — no staging crew, just good light.

Sarah Mitchell — Bedroom. Sarah writes about bedrooms on a budget: cozy bedding combos, small-space layouts, and calm corners that don’t cost a fortune. Her rule for every bedroom: if it doesn’t help you sleep better, it’s decoration you don’t need.

Ashley Bennett — DIY Projects. Ashley is our DIY obsessive. If it involves a hot glue gun, a Dollar Tree run, or a no-carve pumpkin, she’s already on it. She keeps a running list of Dollar Tree finds that punch above their price — her fall pumpkin tests are famous around here.

Megan Foster — Budget Guides. Megan turns seasonal decorating into a budget sport, from fall trays to full Christmas makeovers for $50. Give her a holiday and a fifty-dollar bill and she’ll come back with a full room, a spreadsheet, and change.
